Boys MS Flag Football

Full Name: Tanner Perry Rice
Born: September 5, 1979
Wife: Alexis (June 25, 1982 - January 30, 2017)

Coach Rice took over the MCS Athletic Program in 2013. He is from Tulsa, OK where he attended Holland Hall Preparatory School. There he played football, basketball, and baseball. He received all-conference and all-state honorable mention in basketball.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Communications (Broadcasting), a B.S. in Education (Sport Management), and a B.S. in Business Administration (Management). He received his Masters from Ohio University in Athletic Administration. While at the University of Tennessee he had a brief stint as a walk-on on the football team that he sums up as being a "glorified tackling dummy".

Before he came to MCS he spent three years at Episcopal School of Knoxville where he served as the assistant football coach before taking over as head coach and transitioning the program into a flag football program. As head coach he guided the team to an undefeated season and KISL championship in 2012. He also coached the ESK middle school boys JV basketball team for two years compiling a 30-7 record and a KISL championship in 2012. Coach Rice was also an assistant coach for the ESK track and soccer teams. He started the flag football program at MCS in 2014 and led the team to a KISL runner-up finish in 2015 and 2016.

Coach Rice appreciates the ability to see the students at MCS enjoy their experience while they learn that their identity is found in their relationship with Jesus Christ and not in their exploits in athletic competition. His goal is to provide an experience for the MCS student-athletes that creates lifelong memories and allows them to tell great stories when they get older.
